Hi Kate! It is actually Grandma and me (we are just using dad's computer) and we wish so badly we could hop on a flight tonight and come spend the rest of the week with you! We enjoyed sharing in your day (we checked out the cafe and art museum)...our cups are full when you are happy! Love, Grandma and Mari

oh megan! so good to hear from you... and thanks so much for your kind words about grammy.

I'm so, so excited for you and Mar to get some good time together! What fun. But you're right, 16 hours is much too short. I've got an idea - why don't you both plan some good quality time together in Edinburgh in the fall? Sound good? I know a great little flat you can stay in... ;)

Give Mari a big hug from me!

Love to you,
Katy

Kate,

I remember the first time Grammy came to pick us up from school - she pulled up, opened the door and said "you can call me Grammy!" and off we went. She was so vibrant and full of love. And I know her fiestiness is forever going to be present with us through you, one of my favorite characteristics that you both shared.

You're on my heart this week, dear friend.

I'm so glad you like the quilt, and it should definitely be done by the time you guys come visit!

As for the onion soup post... here's the link:

Sorry your first batch didn't work out - that is so frustrating!

Love the beginnings of your quilt and am anxious to see the finished product on your bed! :)

I look forward to trying out your soup recipe. I was sure that you had an onion soup recipe somewhere in your blog but couldn't find it. I tried something in the crock pot that didn't work and had to be removed and started over again on the stove. Wish I had found yours!

Oh, Kate, I was so moved to read this beautiful post from you about your Grammy. Honestly, what an incredible woman she was. I will never forget any of the times I was blessed to see and talk with her since that first time I met her exactly eleven years ago this month (when I took that February weekend trip with you and Shaun to Boise during our freshman year). She had such a radiant smile (which is so well-captured in the beautiful picture you posted of her), a wonderful laugh, and was so warm and engaging and welcoming. I agree with Becka - she made all of us feel like she was OUR grandma whenever we were with her. I am laughing right now remembering that at your wedding, Ellen sat next to Grammy at the reception, and Grammy invited E. to come visit her in Boise and stay with her over Christmas that year! What a wonderfully warm and amazing person, whom everyone loved. I feel so blessed to have met her and spent a little bit of time with her several times over the years. I pray comfort and peace and sweet memories over your sweet mom and dad and you, Jeremy, Marla and Ryan. I look forward to seeing Grammy again one day and meeting her beloved husband then, too. Bless you, Kate. With love, Lauren
