And now…
Suzanne’s Amazing Sugar Cookies!
makes 3 dozen cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 c butter
- 1 1/2 c sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 3 Tbsp sour cream
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 1/2 c flour
Directions:
- Cream butter and sugar until very light and fluffy. Dissolve baking soda in sour cream; add to sugar mixture. Mix in eggs one at a time, beat until smooth. Add vanilla.
- Sift together flour and salt. Add to mixture.
- Chill for at least 1 hour. Roll dough out to 1/4 inch thick and cut out with cookie cutters in various shapes.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake cookies on ungreased cookie sheets for 10-12 minutes, until lightly browned.
Sugar cookie frosting (hardens when dry)
- 1 Tbsp butter, softened
- 3-6 Tbsp evaporated milk
- 1/4-1/2 tsp almond flavoring
- 2 1/2 c powdered sugar
Combine ingredients using a blender until desired consistency is achieved, adjust quantities as needed. Frosting should be thick, but still easily spreadable.

I have two candy recipes to share. They are EXTRA simple.
Fudge:
1 11 oz. pkg. semi sweet chocolate chips
1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 T. butter
1 C. nuts
Melt chips, milk and butter together in microwave, checking often and stirring until melted. Fold in nuts. Pour in buttered 8×8 pan. Chill 2 hrs. before cutting.
Peanut Brittle
1 C. raw peanuts
1 C. sugar
1/2 C. light corn syrup
1/2 tsp. salt
Stir and put in microwave on high for 10 min. (or less)
stirring often. Don’t let it get too brown as that means it has burned.
Add 1 T. butter & 1 tsp. vanilla; stir and microwave on med. for just a short while. (Just to make sure butter is melted) Spread on greased pan.
This recipe is delicious and so easy!
Also, I read on one of your web sites that a woman had a terrible time cooking her cookies on a pizza stone. The lady in charge of the blog laughingly told her not to ever use a pizza stone. I always use one and love it. My stones are discolored but cook my cookies perfectly.

Oops! Forgot to add this to my last comment. The sugar cookies can be made ahead of time and frozen. Actually, I usually do it this way. Then I can take them out a few at a time and frost them as needed. The frosting stays fresh that way.

Would you mind if I share it with my blog readers? I’ll send them here of course.
